WELCOME TO MY SITE!

I love to teach. I am a former high school math teacher with a BA from St. John’s University in NYC and a Masters In Social Work from UNC, Chapel Hill.   I have been practicing Yoga for over 35 years and received my RYT from Kripalu School of Yoga in 2007.  Because of my personal experience with breast cancer, I created the Pink RIbbon Yoga Retreat in 2005. I am a chair emeritus of the advisory board of the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program and sit on the Robert Preston Tisch Brain Tumor Advisory Board at Duke Medical.  I took up the fiddle in 2006.  It is a fun but humbling practice.  I journal daily and have done so for the last 20 years.  I use Julia Cameron ‘s technique described in The Artist Way.  I am passionate about creating affirmations.  They have empowered me and help me create a life filled with many blessings.  I lead workshops on Creating Positive Affirmations and on developing creativity and am also available for speaking engagements.

This book is a compilation of affirmations and stories designed to nurture and empower. Jean Costa is a life-long journaler, a teacher and a yogini. Her approach to daily writing led her to Creating Positive Affirmations.

Yoga

Pink Ribbon Yoga is a group of women breast cancer survivors who are striving for optimal health. Within yoga, we find support, camaraderie, healing, joy, and peace.  We come in all shapes and sizes, and all ages. Some are more newly diagnosed and others have been thriving for decades. Some of us are very active in yoga, and others are beginners.
